Why do I need to be healthy?
At this stage of the research process (Phase I) it is important to clearly assess the action of the drug and in particular any common side effects. This cannot be achieved in people who already suffer symptoms becuase of existing health problems and so we need to perform this type of testing in healthy volutneers. For Phase II studies, however, you may need to be suffering from a medical condition to be able to do the study. |
